FLASHBACK (A LITTLE LATE)

I tried to get this posted appropriately on Friday, but sometimes the Internet does not cooperate. We’ve been pretty lucky in most RV parks to get their free Internet, but we are cautious about using it. Our wireless plan covers Canada and Mexico so we don’t have to worry about that, most of the time.

Before we left, we added a jetpack to our plan that looks like this.

Verizon calls this a Jetpack, also known as a mifi.

It is supposed to provide data while we are on the road. It worked out great until we crossed into Canada. Then it stopped working. After calling the carrier, we found out the guy at the store sold us the wrong one that only works in the US. And we told him our travel plans! Ugh! Now we can’t stop at a store to exchange it until we get to Alaska. I’ve been tethering off an iphone but this campground barely gets a cell signal. I will be able to connect to a phone while we are driving and get this post updated.

I thought Puerto Rico pictures were in order since it was 50 degrees and raining all day Friday in Edmonton. We went with my brother and nephew in 2012. The hotel, El Conquistador, was perched up high on a hill. And the views were to die for……

Hotel up on the hill overlooking a marina.

We rode a Funicular down to the beach level with a pool with two giant water slides. They also had a dive shop and a ferry out to a private island owned by the hotel. The water and little island were beautiful!

Private island owned by the resort.

This resort is on the east end of the island, a little over an hour from San Juan. We definitely plan to return to explore other areas of the island. I recently heard that Puerto Rico declared bankruptcy and the economy is really bad. An acquaintance from there just brought her dad to Texas because it is so bad. He can’t even sell his house and it is located in the historic part of San Juan. I hope they can get it sorted out and keep the island beautiful.
